Maintaining the status of a Green and Healthy School is optional. Schools interested in maintaining this status can become Model Green and Healthy Schools (MGHS). Benefits of being a MGHS include continual improvement, growth, and the opportunity to help others (e.g., mentoring other schools in the program, developing community-oriented green and healthy programs).

To become a model Green and Healthy School simply

• Review and update previous inventories
  
  
• Implement at least one new improvement project each year*
  
  
• Submit a summary of green and healthy accomplishments
